What is HISP?

The Humanities and International Studies Program (HISP) offers a rigorous honors program curriculum, a unique global perspective on learning and understanding . HISP prepares these students for success at any college or university in the country.

Parents and students must agree that acceptance into HISP is a 4 year commitment. Students who choose to work hard receive an outstanding education. They take additional classes, take an extra year of social science, read fewer excerpted, anthologized texts and more complete novels and primary resource materials, and are expected to do more intensive analytic thinking and writing than in the regular curriculum. Most HISP students take four years of math and at least three years of science. Three years of a foreign language are required or two years of one language plus two years of another, in addition to the HISP core classes and a wide variety of extra-curricular activities.

Opportunities for tutoring are available.

High standards of behavior, performance and attendance are necessary for students to remain in the program. Probation/Expulsion Policy. Advanced Placement examinations in many subjects are available and are encouraged for HISP students; however the program is not designed to replace the first year of a university program, rather to thoroughly prepare students for success in college. Concurrent College Enrollment.
