HISP requires all students to serve their community for 5 hours each academic quarter. Students may volunteer during the summer with those hours counting toward their first quarter or first semester community service requirement. HISP students are available to volunteer after school (typically starting at 4:00 p.m.), on weekends and holidays, and during the summer.

Organizations within the greater Sacramento area may submit volunteer opportunities for posting to the HISP website. There are two categories of opportunities (see Community Service Opportunities for current listings).

• Community Events
  (One-time or short-run events)
• Ongoing Activities
  (Service opportunities that are continuously available)

When submitting your volunteer opportunity, provide the following information and include a link to a website that will give students additional details about your organization and the specific opportunity:

• Name of Event or Activity
• Volunteer Duties (two to three sentences describing what the student will be doing)
•  Dates/Times/Location
• Sponsor (website link required)
• Prerequisites (such as an application, required volunteer training, minimum age, must be accompanied by an adult)
• More Information (name, email, and phone number of a contact person required)

Corrections or Updates: If you are updating information for an already posted item, include the word “update” at the beginning of your message.
