Attention!

NEW dates for High School Open Enrollment 2009!


You must complete an open enrollment application for high school choice programs, either:
***1. online beginning January ?. 2009. (Date TBD )Go to the Sacramento City Unified School District website for instructions. Be sure to print a receipt.
***2. in person at the Serna Center between January ?? and January ??, 2009. Check with them for times.


HISP applications are still due in the HISP Office at McClatchy High School no later than 3 pm on January ??, 2009.

 

HISP is open to students in grades 9-12 district-wide and out-of-district. Students who wish to be considered for admission must submit:

  • a completed 2008 HISP Application Form  
  • transcript of grades since the 7th grade
  • copies of recent standardized test scores
  • a recommendation from your current language arts teacher Recommendation Form (LangArts)
  • a recommendation from any other current teacher              Recommendation Form (Other )    
  • a  writing sample (essay test), written at a supervised writing session at McClatchy
  • Additionally, all applicants to HISP must complete an Open Enrollment form during the District's open enrollment period (usually the month of January)
    Here's a checklist to help you plan

 

Applications are available at district middle school counselors' offices, at the Registrar's office at C.K. McClatchy High School (as of November ??th , 2008), from this web site, and at the district Open Enrollment Office. New students may be admitted as 10th or 11th graders, but usually not as 12 graders.

Note:

We encourage all students to learn the touch system of typing and use of a computer for word processing before coming to high school. Concentrated courses are available at local colleges and sometimes at middle schools.

Admission Decisions

Notification Letters Mailed - March 2009

Decisions are made based on the information provided in the application packet and to achieve an ethnic balance reflective of the district's overall student enrollment.
