The C. K. McClatchy HISP Council serves as a forum for parents, teachers and students to promote the program, exchange ideas and allocate money raised through contributions. All parents/guardians of students enrolled in HISP are Members of the HISP Council, and are welcome at HISP Board meetings. Parents willing to donate time or materials to the program can indicate interest on HISP Interest Survey

Leadership of the HISP Council is vested in the HISP Board. The board members are also volunteer parents who are appointed or reinstated annually. The HISP Board meets at 6 pm on the first Tuesday evening of each month of the school year in the HISP Office at C. K. McClatchy High School. The Board includes the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, at large members representing each grade, and the HISP faculty coordinator. The Council has focused on fund raising in recent years to augment the school district's support. Each expenditure is designed to promote the quality of the academic program, enrich the experiences of HISP students and generate district and community support. The Council has paid for new reference books, a computer research system for the library, readers to assist teachers grading essays, guest speakers, and transportation for field trips.

Besides organizing numerous cultural events and programs, the Council sponsors the Spring HISP Family Barbecue and awards ceremony for students and their families, designed to keep the strong spirit and sense of community that characterize life at C.
